Health criteria for sweets

It is believed that sugar makes any product high in calories, and leads to overeating and obesity, deposited as glycogen and gradually turns into fat deposits. In the lists of dishes that are prohibited when dieting, you can almost always find chocolate, candy and other desserts that we are accustomed to.

That is why, which sweets are low-calorie and which are not, determines their composition. To healthy desserts, nutritionists include products with a caloric value of no more than 150 kcal, which include artificial and natural sweeteners, fructose or sugar. Such foods:

  • stimulate the production of serotonin, elevate the mood;
  • they give you a boost of energy;
  • help perform complex tasks and engage in mental activities, feeding the brain with glucose;
  • improve the gastrointestinal tract, as they contain pectin.

How to eat them

Even the most low-calorie dishes can have a negative impact on the body and suspend the process of weight loss, if you do not follow the basic recommendations of dietitians. For example, do not forget that with second-degree obesity and diabetes, any sweets, even low-calorie ones, are strictly forbidden. We recommend that you consult a dietitian or attending physician to clarify this issue. Also, desserts are prohibited if you stick to a carbohydrate diet.

Here are a few more basic rules that should be adhered to:

  • in order to use up completely the calories received from the dessert, it is better to regale yourself with it in the first half of the day;
  • pay attention to the too high percentage of lipids in buttery creams and yeast cakes, which disrupt the intestinal function and “slow down” the metabolism – it is worth refusing to eat such dishes completely;
  • the energy value of your selected sweets should not exceed ten percent of the total calories consumed during the day;
  • do not indulge yourself with desserts every day, even the most low-calorie sweets are better to eat no more than three times a week.
